இது நியுஸிலாந்தின் ஒடாகோ மத்திய பகுதியில் காணப்படும் ஒரு இடம். கார்ட்ரோனா பிரா வேலி என்று தற்போது இந்த இடம் அழைக்கப்படுகின்றது.
1999ம் ஆண்டுக் கடைசியில் கிறிஸ்மஸுக்கும் புத்தாண்டுக்கும் இடைப்பட்ட காலப் பகுதியில்தான் இங்கு பிராக்களைத் தொங்கவிடும் இந்தப் பழக்கம் ஆரமபமானது.
வீதி ஓரமாக அமைந்துள்ள இந்த நீளமான வேலியில் முதலில் நான்கு பிராக்கள் தொங்கவிடப்பட்டிருந்தன. 2000 மாம் ஆண்டு இறுதியில் இதன் எண்ணிக்கை 60 ஆக அதிகரித்தது.
அப்போது யாரோ ஒருவர் இவற்றை அங்கிருந்து அப்புறப்படுத்தினார்.இந்த பிராக்கள் அப்புறப்படுத்தப்பட்டமை தெடர்பாக உள்ளூர் பத்திரிகைகளில் செய்தி வெளியானது. உடனே மீண்டும் இங்கு பிராக்கள் வந்து குவிய ஆரம்பித்துவிட்டன.
யார் எதற்காக இங்கு முதன்முதலாக பிராவைத் தொங்கவிட்டார். இதன் நோக்கம் என்ன? என்று இதுவரை எந்தத் தகவலும் இல்லை. ஆனால் நாளுக்குநாள் வண்ண வண்ணமான விதவிதமான பிராக்கள் வந்து சேருகின்றன.
இங்குள்ள பிராக்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 2006ல் 800த் தாண்டியபோது அவற்றுள் சில அப்புறப் படுத்தப்படடன, ஆனால் மீண்டும் அதை விட பல மடங்கு மளமளவென்று வந்துத் தொங்க ஆரம்பித்துவிட்டன.
அன்றிலிருந்து யாரும் இஙகுள்ள பிராக்கள் எதையும் அகற்றவில்லை.இப்போது இதன் எண்ணிக்கை மேலும் அதிகரித்துள்ளது.
இந்த இடம் சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகளைக் கவரும் ஒரு இடமாகவும் மாறிவிட்டது.இதனால் இந்த வழியாகச் செல்லும் சாரதிகள் ஆபத்தை எதிர்நோக்கியுள்ளதாக சிலர் சுட்டிக்காட்டியுள்ளனர்.Share 0

Facebook bans 20,000 accounts daily
Facebook chief privacy advisor Mozelle Thompson appeared before the Australian Parliament’s cyber-safety committee this week to discuss Internet-related security issues. Thanks to the event, we learned that about 20,000 users are kicked off Facebook every day for various infractions, including for lying about their age.
“There are people who lie. There are people who are under 13 [accessing Facebook],” Thompson told Federal Parliament’s cyber-safety committee, according to The Telegraph. “Facebook removes 20,000 people a day, people who are underage.”
Although the company requires its users to be at least 13-years-old, the limit is easily circumvented, like on pretty much any website on the Internet. “While the social network has mechanisms to detect liars,” Thompson admitted that “It’s not perfect”.
The original report suggested that the 20,000 accounts banned daily are all for individuals found not to be at least 13-years-old. This is not true; the number actually includes accounts deleted for any serious rule-breaking. Furthermore, it does “not include the proactive efforts that actually prevent fake or under age accounts from being created.”

The pontiff holds no post in the party — Avadi Ravichandran, a businessman associated with the Kanchi Math, is designated the founder-leader. The party, for the time being, has no plans to contest elections, but it does have a manifesto: A law banning religious conversions, another one to ban cow slaughter and shifting of administrative powers over temples from government to private organisations.
"This is not merely a party," said the Sankaracharya, showering flowers on the party flag that shows a raised fist on a saffron circle against a red backdrop. "This is a movement to get people to practise divine bhakti, to alienate all the evils surrounding us and let people lead a clean and happy life," he said.
The materialistic bit came next, in the form of a resolution the party adopted on its founding day. Neither the state nor the Centre should interfere in the syllabus of private educational institutions, it said, though governments can set regulations and guidelines. Governments should give importance to agriculture and ensure no taxes are levied on agriculture or its allied products. This will ensure food for every human being, the resolution said.
Is the Kanchi Sankaracharya, who played mediator during the Ayodhya crisis, following in the footsteps of Baba Ramdev who wants to graduate from a yoga guru to a 'raj guru'? Political analyst Cho Ramaswamy sees it as a trend.

The 9.0 magnitude earthquake that ravaged Japan also shortened Earth's day by just over one-millionth of a second (1.8 microseconds to be exact), according to NASA. It also shifted the Earth's axis by about 6.5 inches.
By changing the distribution of the planet's mass, the quake likely caused the Earth to spin a tiny bit faster, says research scientist Richard Gross of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., thus shortening the time the planet takes to rotate each day.
The quake also shifted the position of the Earth's "figure" axis (which is different from the planet's north-south axis). This shift in Earth's figure axis will cause Earth to wobble a bit differently as it rotates, but it won't cause a shift of the Earth's axis in space -- only external forces such as the gravitational attraction of the sun, moon and planets could do that.

This little piggy may have gone to market and that little piggy may have stayed at home - but these little piggies had other ideas completely.
The demanding little piglets were so hungry they managed to persaude their mother to stop and feed them in the middle of a road.
The sow was oblivious to the oncoming traffic as she stood waiting for her young ones to finish suckling.

This little piggy may have gone to market and that little piggy may have stayed at home - but these little piggies had other ideas completely.
The demanding little piglets were so hungry they managed to persaude their mother to stop and feed them in the middle of a road.
The sow was oblivious to the oncoming traffic as she stood waiting for her young ones to finish suckling.

புதிய பாதையில் பிரவேசிக்கும் இன்டர்நெட்!
இந்த உலகம் புதியதொரு இணையம் ஒன்றைக் காணப் போகிறது. தற்போது பின்பற்றப்படும் இணைய முகவரி அமைப்பு விரைவில் முற்றிலுமாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்ட நிலையில், புதிய வழி வகை தொடங்கப்பட உள்ளது.
இணையத்தில் இணையும் ஒவ்வொரு கம்ப்யூட்டருக்கும், அதனை தனி அடையாளம் காட்டும் முகவரி ஒன்று தரப்படுகிறது. இதற்கென உலக அளவில் ஒரு நடைமுறை பின்பற்றப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) என அழைக்கப்படும் இந்த முறையானது, 1981ல் தொடங்கப்பட்டது. தற்போது இதன் திறன் முழுமையும் பயன்படுத்தப் பட்டுவிட்டதால், இனிமேல் முகவரிகளை வழங்க இயலா நிலைக்கு நாம் நெருங்கி விட்டோம்.
சென்ற பிப்ரவரி 1 அன்று தான், முகவரிகளைத் தரும் தொகுதிகளில் இறுதி தொகுதி வழங்கப்பட்டது. ஆசிய பசிபிக் நாடுகளுக்கென ஒதுக்கப்பட்ட முகவரிகள் எண்ணிக்கை 2012ல் அல்லது அதற்கும் சற்று முன்னதாக மொத்தமாகக் காலியாகும் என்று எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.
எனவே அடுத்து புதியதாக 128 பிட் அளவில் செயல்படும் IPv6 திட்டம் அமல்படுத்தப் பட இருக்கிறது. இந்த மாற்றம் நம் ஊரில் தொலைபேசிகளுக்கான எண்கள் ஏழு இலக்கத்திலிருந்து எட்டு இலக்கத்திற்கு மாறுவது போல் ஆகும்.
ஆனால் இன்டர் நெட்டில், முகவரிக்கான திட்ட மாற்றம் ஹார்ட்வேர் மற்றும் சாப்ட்வேர் சம்பந்தப்பட்டதாகும். IPv6 திட்டத்தின் அடிப்படையில் தரப்படும் முகவரிக்கு, கம்ப்யூட்டர் கட்டமைப்பில் எட்டு ஸ்லாட்டுகள் தேவைப்படும்.
ஆனால் நாம் தற்போது பயன்படுத்தும் சாதனங்களும், சார்ந்த சாப்ட்வேர் தொகுப்புகளும் நான்கு ஸ்லாட்டுகள் என்ற அளவிலேயே இதற்கான வசதியைக் கொண்டுள்ளன. ஜப்பான் போன்ற நாடுகள் இந்த மாற்றத்திற்கு தேவைப்படும் கட்டமைப்பு மாற்றத்தில் 75% அளவு மேற்கொண்டு இப்போதே தயாராக உள்ளனர்.
ஆனால் இந்தியாவில் இது குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வும் இன்னும் முழுமையாக ஏற்படவில்லை. இந்தியாவில் உள்ள நெட்வொர்க்குகளில் 6% சாதனங்கள் தான் புதிய IPv6 திட்டத்திற்குத் தயாராய் உள்ளன. நெட்வொக்கில் பயன்படுத்தப் படும் ரௌட்டர்கள், ஸ்விட்ச்கள் மற்றும் சர்வர்கள் இந்த IPv6 திட்டத்தினை ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளக் கூடிய வகையில் அப்கிரேட் செய்யப்பட வேண்டும்.
இல்லை எனில், இணைய தளங்களுக் கிடையேயான இணைப்பு பிரிந்து செயல்படும் வாய்ப்பு ஏற்படும். இந்திய இணைய பயனாளர்கள், இணையத்தில் ஒரு பகுதியினைப் பயன்படுத்த இயலா நிலை ஏற்படும்.
வீடுகளில் கம்ப்யூட்டர்கள் மூலம் இணைய இணைப்பு பெறுபவர்கள் இந்த மாற்றம் குறித்துக் கவலைப்பட வேண்டியதில்லை. இதில் பயன்படுத்தப் படும் ஆப்பரேட்டிங் சிஸ்டம் IPv6 திட்டத்துடன் இணைவாகச் செயல்படும் வகையிலேயே இருக்கின்றன.
வீடுகளில் பயன்படுத்தப் படும் மோடம் அப்கிரேட் செய்யப்படும் நிலையில் இருந்தால், இணைப்பு தரும் இன்டர்நெட் சர்வீஸ் நிறுவனங்கள் அவர்களுக்கு எச்சரிக்கை செய்தியினை வழங்கும். இந்த மாற்றத்தினால் அதிக சிக்கல்களை எதிர்நோக்குபவர்கள், நிறுவனங்கள் மற்றும் மத்திய நிலையில் இயங்கும் சில குழுமங்களாகும்.
இந்த தகவல்களை ஆசிய பசிபிக் நெட்வொர்க் இன்பர்மேஷன் சென்டரின் முன்னால் செயல் இயக்குநர் குசும்பா தெரிவித்தார். அரசைப் பொறுத்தவரை, அரசின் இணைய தளங்கள், நெட்வொர்க் சாதனங்கள் அனைத்தும் இதற்கென அப்டேட் செய்யப்பட வேண்டும்.
இல்லை எனில் மக்களுக்கு சேவை கிடைக்காது என இன்டர்நெட் சேவை வழங்கும் நிறுவனக் கூட்டமைப்பின் தலைவர் கருத்து தெரிவித்துள்ளார். இதற்கென இன்டர்நெட் சேவை நிறுவனங்கள், நெட்வொர்க் நிறுவனங்கள் மற்றும் அரசுக்குக் கூடுதல் மூலதன நிதி தேவைப்படும்.
விரைவில் அரசும் நிறுவனங்களும் விழித்துக் கொண்டு செயல் பட்டால், சிக்கலை, அது வரும் முன் எதிர்கொண்டு நாம் தயாராகிவிடலாம்.
